You don't mention whether you are talking about tropical hibiscus (H.
rosa-sinensis) or one of the other species, but in any case, here are a
couple of sites (sorry, don't know how to include them as links, so you
just have to cut and paste)..

I'm also going to forward your request to the hibiscus maillist. There are
a number of people on that list that do a lot of grafting and may have some
more specific comments.

Regardless of what you do (again, assuming you are talking about H. rosa
sinensis), sounds like your hibiscus needs a good pruning. I grow all of
mine in pots and prune them hard every two years. That may be an easier
route to a bushier plant than fooling around with side grafts (but hey,
whatever turns you on!)
