Re: obedient plant


Obediemt plant or Physostegia is easy to grow from seed , germination is it
two-four weeks at 75F, Plants flower after one year, if sow early.
 Plants multiply fast by means on underground stems, trhey like moist soils
and my be invasive.
Plants come in diffrent shades of purple/pink and white.
There is a variegated one to, with white varigation and pinks flowers.
Planst bloom in lates summer to fall.
and Are in the mint family- note the square stems and perfect flowers that are
5 lobed and bilabiate.

Obediant plants makes good cut flowers- but will make  a mess as the flowers
drop.
Seed is large and should be collected in fall, when the stems start to turn
color.
I have a few forms that have redish purple stems and leaves all summer.
The roots of the white forms have a strong unusual scent, and the purple ones
to a lesser degree.
