I know of no tricks. Some seeds of some P varieties germinate quickly. 
Some slowly and erratically.  

If you collected seed and are trying to germinate it, be patient. 

If you purchased seed of 'Snow Crown', germination should occur relatively
quickly, although not especially uniformly (multiple flushes will occur). 
If you purchased seed of 'Rose Bouquet' or any of its synonyms, germ can be
very erratic.  I have given up on some purchases of this one after three
months in the flat; other purchases (from the same and different seed
sources) have germed OK in 4-6 weeks.
