Subject: Cuttings of Hibiscus syriacus
Is it possible to root cuttings of Hibiscus syriacus? If so, when
would be the best time?
Eva Thorn

Hybiscus is quite easily propagated from cuttings.
Select cuttings with 3-5 leaf from this seasons growth ...
about 5-8 weeks after growth initiation.
Do not take woody cuttings.
If the plant is several years old take the juvenile cuttings from
near the base of the plant .. not the top.
see:

After taking the cuttings place in a plastic bag and put in
a cool place for a day (ie: refrigerator) to allow callus to form.
You can use a low conc rooting hormone by dry dip (ie: 0.1%IBA)
see:
http://www.rooting-hormones.com/drydip.htm
or we prefer the total immerse method as show on
http://www.rooting-hormones.com/WST.htm#Total immerse
Cover with plastic and control the environment as shown
http://www.rooting-hormones.com/drydip.htm
