Hello Connie and others.
I am in the United Kingdom and have tried to follow this thread, but
this is difficult without access to the original article. However I
gather that it is something to do with seed companies using a method of
producing seed which is sterile after one generation and therefore
cannot be used for further stocks. This of course is very similar to the
situation with F1 hybrids where the offspring do not exhibit the
characteristics of the original cross. We are having to live with that,
it has its plusses and minuses.
The point of this message is that I have access to a group of vegetable
gardeners on the net, including quite a number with links to the more
political side of things and I am willing to pass your query on and see
what is known about our current state of legislation.
Could you therefore give me a clear synopsis of the situation and what
you wish to know in a form that anybody who is so far ignorant of the
situation your end can understand and respond to.
Thank you all, and happy gardening
Allan Day
