Re: Scarify


I use sulfuric acid obtained in plumbing supply places (as drain opener
which is almost pure). I do not dilute it. I soak seeds until it seems coats
are getting translucent (usually just for a few minutes but sometimes for
hours). Use large jars and not a lot of sulfuric acid. Wear goggles because
the stuff is really dangerous. Use acid at room temperature. Stir
occasionally as there is material coming off of the seed (too much stirring
will cause too much heat. Put a screen over your drain and pour contents of
jar over sink drain. The violent reaction of acid neutralization will occur
in your drain instead of open air. Immediately rinse the seeds, jar and any
other surface the acid has come into contact with. This is dangerous please
be careful.
