Re: propagation DIGEST V1 #165

I don't have any reference to air layering Maple but my Hartmann & Kester book says to take cuttings in late spring. It does say that overwintering the cuttings may be a problem.

Hi Rob, Since I haven't tried this, I really can't say. But, it would be
fun to try - you really don't have anything to lose :)

Marilyn,
My thought was to air layer because I have at least seen it done before.
Although if I think about it a little I suppose I have seen ground layering
naturally. If you dont think it would survive the winter, if started in the
spring what do you think the chances I would have enough root developed by
the fall to successfully plant?
Rob
