Mailing list and why they were created

Mailing lists are created to focus on certain scope of interest for people
to discuss and learn from. Sometimes new people to the Internet have a hard
time understanding what a mailing list is all about.

A mailing list is not a Newsgroup or a Chat group forum. Mailing list are
owned and controlled by the listowner and he/she defines the ground rules
for discussion.

Anytime you join a mailing list, you are asked to verify your subscription
or sometimes you are subscribed at once. Once you are subscribed, you will
receive a list of instructions explaining the ground rules and a process to
subscribe and unsubscribe from the mailing list. It is your responsibility
to keep this important email message for future action.

A listowner is a normal person who may have a family or a real job which
pays money. Owning a mailing list, does not provide any income and is
reviewed by me only from time to time.

Most mailing list are programmed, that if you would like to reply to a
question, it will automatically send your response to all the members of the
mailing list. If you feel your response dose support the scope of the
mailing list and will support all the subscribers, please submit it. If
your reply is a private reply and does not benefit the mailing list, please
review your return email address before you submit your response.

Many people unsubscribe from mailing list due to the fact that people do not
understand this simple and basic curiosity.

As a list owner of four mailing list, please consider these words of wisdom
and have a happy holiday.
