The first year I grew these plants, I dug up the tubers before a killing
frost and kept them in the garage, stored in dry peat moss as you would for
Dalia tubers. They all survived. I planted the tubers in the ground after
all danger of frost had passed. They all grew. I have taken cuttings of
plants in the fall to over winter in the house, (I don't have a green
house), and they always seem to be prone to spider mites. It's a constant
fight for me. I like the idea of starting cuttings from the tubers in
flats. This could be done after some storage in a cool area but early
enough in the spring to get a head start for the season, therefore omitting
the spider mite problem. After taking some starts off of the tubers, the
tubers could be planted in the ground at the right time too. Lots more
plants, if that is what you're after. It should work. I'll try it this
year.
