RootShield and Botrytis

We are having a lot of problems with Botrytis on some of our
California Native annuals.We are considering spraying with RootShield
(renamed PlantShield)) to prevent the problem. The idea is to prevent
Botrytis from infecting the plant by covering the surface of the
plant with a benign competitive organism. Have any of you tried this
method and does it work well?
Other ideas would be appreciated too.
