This is my first posting since joining the Seed-L about 10 days ago, so
please be kind to me! :<|)
I am very impressed with the quality of the listserv and the vast and
diverse knowledge of its members. Being a "novice" (5 years exp.)
propagator, there is still plenty to learn, and hopefully I can contribute
with some of the techniques I have been developing (albeit, some may seem
somewhat unorthodox) to germinate so-called difficult seed.
My first request for advise involves the germination of Paeonia seeds I
rec'd about 2 and a half months ago. These tree peony seeds were dried
stored (don't know how long???) and I have been giving them the old
warm-cold, warm-cold treatment to get them to sprout. After over 2 months
in a poly bag filled with vermiculite in a warm spot, I still have not been
able to get any root sprouts.
About a week ago, I put the bag into the fridge and plan to tranfer it back
into the "warm" in about a month or so. Hopefully, this will work.
Any suggestions?
