The Deinanthe should germinate easily warm, however it is very fine and
some seed ex batches contain nothing but chaff- it's not all that easy
to tell. We fill pots, water them in, then grit with a fairly fine grit
and sow fine seed on top of that. water lightly from the top to wash the
seeds down. The grit reflects and transmits light quite well so light is
not an issue. If you don't grit the moss is likely to overtake the
seedlings. Cuttings is much easier than seed once you have plants. I
suspect the hanabusa will germinate much like platycodon which it is
related. if all else fails try a little( very little) GA3 most
campanulaids are very responsive to it.
Ps. Dick Punnett is looking for Hanabusya, if you have any to spare I
know he would love it. E-mail him at he may also have some cultural
hints.
