Re: tissue culture

Ann's book is indeed a good starting point to learn tissue culture. It's
a bit dated at this point but has all the basics. You can easily do
tissue culture on a hobbiest scale, with a pressure cooker and a
glovebox. For any serious work however you need at least a small laminer
flow hood which you can easily build from plywood and a blower. A 1metre
per second air flow is a good start point. It's lots of fun to do and
you can also use it for flasking orchid seed etc., but it can eat up
even more time than computers, and it is easy to produce more plants
than you know what to do with. 10x multiplication per month really adds
up after 6 months or so. Sigma has lots of premixed media as does
carolinia biological. Baby food jars and canning jars make usable
containers.
