Electric blanket as heat mat?

To those of you who are using electric blankets as low-cost substitutes for
propagation heat mats, here's a question for you: do you fold up your blanket
to fit onto one shelf? The reason I ask is that my blanket's directions state
that one should not "crimp, trap, cross, or pinch cords between bed slats,
mattress or springs, or against walls, footboard, or bed frame."

Would I be causing a hazard by _folding_ it up to fit on my 25" X 51" shelving
unit and putting seed trays (in waterproof flats, of course) on top? So,
experienced *blanket users* would you please advise? What's your set-up? My
blanket is a Sunbeam with a Low - High, 11 setting, control.

Thanks in advance for all your advice! Best, C. Carter, CA/Z9
