I harvested seed from my lupines last summer and planted them, I guess
last July. I transplanted to 3" pots and grew them in a sheltered spot outside
until late fall when I put them into cold frames.
As of yesterday, I have about 300 healthy looking plants, almost all of
them with good new growth buds emerging.
I did lose about a dozen plants to crown rot but the rest look great.
Go easy on the watering, but don't let them dry out completely. Every couple of
weeks I'd pop a few plants out of the pots and check for moisture. I guess I've
watered them lightly probably only two or three times since Thankgiving.
Good luck.

P.S. I did germinate the seed in the basement under florescent lights
where the temp stays about 70 deg.. I tried them outside once and they didn't
germinate well at all, too hot in August.
