Dear Angela,
I would not advise you to try getting a jump on spring in this case since
Aquilegia will only flower next year for the first time, no matter how
early you sow them. Best is to start in may and no later than june because
then they will skip another year.
A cold period for the seed has proven good for me. So I start them early
(march/april) outside and bring the container on a heating bench in may.
