In the book, From Seed to Bloom How to Grow over 500 Annuals,
Perennials & Herbs by Eileen Powell, Story
Communications/Garden Way Publishing, 1994.
Germination of Verbena bonariensis and V. rigida. Put
seeds in plastic bag along with moist seed starting mix and refrigerate for
2 weeks. Sow as usual. She also states that the seed requires
darkness and a temp of 65-75 degrees. Also says that germination can
take from 14 to 90 days!
Two other books that are full of info are:
Growing Plants from Seed by Doc & Katy
Abraham, Lyons & Burford Publishers, 1991
Propagation Handbook, Basic Techniques for Gardeners
by Geoff Bryant, Stackpole Books,1992
Found these at my local library and
would by any/all of them.
