I have in previous years purchased a product called damping off. I fill a spray bottle container according to the directions and mist the soil. I do this a couple of times before the true leaves form. My guess is that there is too much water and humidity. When I start my seedlings and put plastic on them, I also take off the plastic every other day for a couple of hours. Never had a problem this way. Denise
