Re: Starting seeds in darkness

About the only seeds I routinely put in the dark are Cyclamen species ,
which mostly germinate promptly when held in an unlit canning closet in my
bsement [ca. 55-60 F]. These don't suffer if I check at least every
second day.

For less-closely watched seed, the better approach is 1) plant deep --
most if not all dark-preferred seeds are fairly large, and can come up
from depth. and/or 2) cover the seed flat with tarpaper or equivalnet.
