Why don't you break the branch in half, since you seem to have a fairly
long piece, and stick one part in a potting medium well amended with sand
and leave the other half in water. I find lots of things really root better
in "soil" then water.
Cindy in TX, Z8/9 Very warm and dry winter. I feel like I could plant
tomatoes already (but, I'm not going to...)
