Starting the creation of the FAQs

Greetings All,

I have talked with our list founder and owner, Duncan McAlpine, about
creating the FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions) for our list.

As stated before the purpose of the FAQs is to provide answers to the basic
questions that we all have or have had about plant propagation. This
allows shy newbies to seek information with out fear of asking the
mythological "stupid question". It is also better to politely direct
someone to the FAQs rather than give a cursory answer or perhaps worse, no
answer at all to their question.

To start this process I am asking the members of the group to send to me
5-10 (20?) questions on BASIC Propagation. If you have experience and/or
strongly held opinions about how something should be done please include
ANSWERS to the questions you send.

I will synthesize a "stock" answer to each question, along with some
references. If there are answers sent to me that differ significantly from
the stock answer, I will put them as an addendum to the answer along with
the contributors name and email address. In this way, readers will know
who to contact for further information. There will be the usual
disclaimer.....your experiences may vary due to differences in climate,
temperature, plant genetics..blah..blah..blah.

At this time I do not know where the FAQ's will be kept but I don't
anticipate having the first part finished for at least several weeks. This
depends partly on how many of you respond to this request. I'll keep you
all informed as to the progress.

I will acknowledge receipt of your questions but will be away from my
computer for a few days this week.
Please send them to me within the next two weeks by replying to the list.
This way the entire group will see the questions and this may stimulate
others to come up with different questions so you all don't send me the
same questions.

Remember this first round is for BASIC PLANT PROPAGATION questions. We
will move on to other more specific points later.

Look forward to your contributions.

Best Regards,

Scott
