Re:soil temps, lights

Coupla things:

I wish I could water with warm water, but I can't. I've probaby killed
plants this way, but I just don't have the ability to get warm water. For
that matter, I wish I could use Reverse Osmosis (RO) water, but I can't.

One thing I know about SOME temperate woodies is that extended photoperiod
does in fact help. I have experienced this with Enkianthus, Hamamelis
family, some acers, and some rhodys. It helps to get the cuttings as soon
in the spring as possible, root them and get some new top growth on them. I
guess it gives the plant the idea of a whole cycle. Some plants root great,
but just will not break bud in the spring. A whole other subject.

Whew!

I will be gone for a week starting Saturday January 11, so you all won't be
hearing from me. I'm going to check out some new greenhouse complexes to get
ideas and inspiration for my own.
