Bjarcia@aol.com asked about starting carambola from seed. They are very easy and fast growing from seed. All you need to do is plant and water and within 3 or 4 years one tree will produce all the delicious carambola you can eat. (Provided you can either plant it in the ground or in a large tub in a greenhouse.) They are self-fertile so you only need one tree to get fruit and the crop ripens over a period of several months. They are not quite as cold-hardy as citrus and young trees will drop their leaves at about 30 degrees. Older trees are hardier. I highly recommend it. Jim Ford jim.f@juno.com
