Re: Carambola (starfruit)

They are very easy and fast growing from seed.  All you need to do is
plant and water and within 3 or 4 years one tree will produce all the
delicious carambola you can eat.  (Provided you can either plant it in
the ground or in a large tub in a greenhouse.)  They are self-fertile so
you only need one tree to get fruit and the crop ripens over a period of
several months.  They are not quite as cold-hardy as citrus and young
trees will drop their leaves at about 30 degrees.  Older trees are
hardier.  I highly recommend it.
