Gardenia Thunbergia seeds

Hi there everyone: I have a question regarding the seed of Gardenia
Thunbergia. I have a couple of them and I don't know when to harvest
those big nuts they get. They seem to stay on the bushes forever. A
landscaper told me to twist off a big one and drop it in boiling water
for "a while", peel it and then plant it. Also, does anyone know
anything about the seeds of regular garden gardenias? Mune never seem to
make any seed.
