I have found Glaucidium palmatum and its ssp bicolor to germinate well
after cold treatment; some germinated after a couple of months, others took
up to 7 months. The man who gave me the seed from his plants simply puts
them out for the winter in pots.
But here's the question: I can't get them past the cotyledon stage and in
fact they have shown no inclination to shed their seed coats. I have tried
growing them on in soilless mix, and before the summer is over, they have
dwindled away. Can anyone suggest what I've done wrong? Is there a better
soil mix? Do they need feeding?
