I would like to add that the first person who replied to my posting clearly
doesn't speak French, or would know a) that there are numerous virtually
incomprehensible dialects in the country of France b) that many people in
Quebec speak a refined and beautiful French. Turn on a radio or French TV,
and don't generalize. Comparisons with Brooklynese are not relevant.
This is off topic by Duncan's standards, though it is thanks to Duncan's
error that I first posted on this subject. But the subsequent mindless
generalisation about Quebec French should not be allowed to pass for an
"informed" view.
