I am afraid this statement is false. Recently it has been proven scientifically that leaking of genetic material from one species to other species (even of different species) does take place in nature. So when it happens to 'biological' species, it will sooner or later also take place with 'genetically' altered species. It seems we did not learn of the plagues we brought from continent to continent... So now we might make a real plague for ourselves...
It seems economy (big money) is again overruling (biological) common sense
 
 the third world countries do not like this plain and I can understand why,
they will not be able to afford to pay for the seed of newer higher yielding
crops.
some we will have many grain crops that will be able to grow in salinated
soils and those plants will be "injected" with the terminator genes. High tech
plant engineering is not cheep so that is why the seed producers have worked
hard to develop this and the get it patented and licensed.

will it be good for the farmer. Not in the short run, but as more plant
breeding takes place because those that are willing to pay the high cost of
doing the work will find that it will pay off if they can keep their product
from being stolen.
 

What about nature and ecology??
