Hi Duncan: I am starting to grow many species suitable for dried
arrangements. I can't afford to buy alot of each seed, so I buy small
lots, start them in a greenhouse, treat them with TLC and water and feed
them very generously in their already fertile beds. From plant
propagation courses I took many moons ago, How the plant is treated
AFTER it flowers is paramount to both the number of buds produced (eg
trees/shrubs) for the following year, and, for flowers to develop seed
that will germinate, a healthy plant diet is also important once the
flowers have lost their beauty. For "bulb plants" it is important NOT to
cut back the sometimes ugly foliage after flowering because it is this
greenery that feeds the "bulbets".
I'm sorry but this is the extent of my propagating knowledge.
Wanda
