Hi Chris:
Cheryl Netter (in her article "Rooting Roses using Softwood
Cuttings") recommends using 1/2 potting soil and 1/2 perlite. I don't
have personal experience with the method, but plan to try it this
summer with some cuttings from my 'Therese Bugnet'. This article and
several others dealing with rose propagation can be found in the ARS
website's 'Ask the Experts' section --
