Dear list readers,
Having been a member of this list since the week it was begun, I must say
that this arguement is old hat, and I find it as boring as actually reading
the boring details of other people swapping seeds would be. Duncan was
foresighted enough to request that seed trading be done privately instead of
publicly when this conversation first occured, realizing that most of us
would not be interested in the mundane details of other folks trades. Think
about it people. Just how interested are you in reading dozens of posts
between people trading seeds? Just how likely are you to find what you are
looking for on a trading list? I must tell you that it has been tried before
and folks quickly got bored with it and started trading privately or from
web pages. The list died a quick death. I do not mean to put Richard's
generous offer down, as it is truly a thankless job to administer a mailing
list - and perhaps he has some ideas that would make the list last. I
personally am not interested in joining such a list although I trade
thousands of seeds each year. I'm only interested in my own trades, not
everyone elses. If you all do decide to do this, I wish you the best of luck
and a large supply of No-Doze tablets.
May I suggest, that if you do not wish to take advantage of Duncan's offer
of compiling a list of available seeds for trade on one page, you might list
your available seeds on a page of your own and place the web address in your
signature block for interested parties to check out, or not. There are many,
many servers out there who offer free space for small web pages.
And Duncan, I do know that you get tired of it all sometimes and those who
don't stop and think about the work you do for them without compensation or
thanks should try to walk that mile in your shoes. But you will get more
flies with honey than vinegar. Chin up, smile, shrug. Forget it. It's just
words and it's just cyber space - don't take it personally. Hit the delete
button - go kiss your wife, take a walk in the garden. Better than counting
to ten anyday :-). And in case I've not said it before. Thank you.
Can we please get back to propagation now?
Grow well,
Amber
