Hello Everyone,
I've been lurking for a few months now, and feel it's time too
introduce myself. I'm from the valleys of South Wales (to
dispel a common American myth, Wales ISN'T IN England, it's
alongside it!), UK. I live in Neath, about 10 miles inland from
Swansea.
The climate is very temperate - the coast keeps temperatures between
0C and +30C, very rarely does it reach -5C or +35C. True to Wales'
reputation, we get lots of rain - there's hosepipe bans and empty
reservoirs all over the UK, but reservoirs here in South Wales
are fine (one of the benefits of heavy rainfall, apart from lots of
greenery!).
My current (parents') house has a shed which serves as a greenhouse,
but no garden, although I've recently bought my own house with 0.75
acres consisting of a small cultivated area, plus a large natural
woodland (Oak, Sycamore, Beech, Hazel) and rockery (part of an old
small quarry).
My main cultivation interests are indoor plants (especially cacti),
as I prefer a more *natural* and utilitarian approach to outdoor
gardening. I'm happy to let wildlife dominate most of my garden, as
long as I have a patch for food production and a patio for relaxing
in.
I look forward to contributing.
Neil.
