Cuttings In Water, Again :-)

Hi All,

Many thanks to everyone for the Great answers last time I asked or
commented on this topic... that was some food for thought, because so
far, the results I have had rooting cuttings in water seem to be
pretty independent of the locality and character of the water... I
think...

And I haven't been able to notice yet if different colors of glass
bottles makes a difference (I take what I can get, actually
:-))although that was also mentioned...

But I have some other successes to report, and I'm not at all sure how
or why they happened. Three Salvia cuttings now have fabulous root
systems in bottles of water... the roots may have started from the
stems Above the waterline, by the way...

Salvia miniata and Salvia uliginoides have done this, this has not
happened before, and the first trial of Salvia disjuncta has worked
very well also.

I'm about to try to take the willow water stuff seriously, too. A
popular herb magazine just published an article where a tea made from
little twig sections is used along with rooting hormone, to root
cuttings in soil...

In sharp contrast to all of the things I've seen about
using the water that willow cuttings have rooted in, to root "anything
or almost anything" in water, without soil...

So I figure it's about time to get to the bottom of That; having
gathered some willow, I'm about to try both and see what happens. :-)

Great gardening to all,
