It might not be scientific, but I've taken cuttings of the russian sage
& butterfly bush in mid-summer and have had no problems rooting them. I
simply stuck cuttings dipped in Rootone (sp?) into potting mix and
placed the container inside plastic (dry cleaner bags) and kept them
moist. I lose about 1/2 to rot, but hey, they other half are FREE!!!
Just go for it. I figure I'll learn more as I go and my percentage of
success will increase. But in the meantime, I still have more plants
than I started with.
