Propagation Mailing List survey

I would hope that people don't get intimidated by the jargon. All things
have their own jargon and we learn by hearing it and using it. I would
like to see people give the commom of a plant, if there is one, after the
botanical name. I realize that sometimes there are many different common
names for a plant, but if it is given after the correct name, sometimes
people will learn the correct name and use it thereafter. Using the
correct name is really the only way we can identify the plant that we are
talking about. I just think it would be helpful to those who would like to
learn the botanical names. Sometimes I don't know what plant is being
dicussed and am not in a position to run to a reference book at the time.
I am also interested in the propagation of difficult seed. Mostly
perenniels and they seem to have more specific requirements than annuals.
Twice I tryed growing Gunnera Mannicata from seed with no luck. I know it
has a germanation inhibitor, but I was not able to be successful. I tryed
soaking the seeds and changing the water frequently. The seeds are small,
so it was a little difficut. Anyone out there had success? Since then I
have discovered that it won't grow in my climate anyway, but would love to
know the secret of germanation. Glenda in NC
