Re: Using botanical and common names

 someone wrote...........

" I delete all the posts that give only the Latin name.
Why?? Because I have no clue what the item is. I barely have time to read
the messages that interest me much less go look up a bunch of Latin names.
If I have to look up the names to see what I'm reading about, I might as
well quit the list!!!!!!!!! When I look the item up, it will also give me
most of the info I need so why do I need the list!!!"

While I don't delete all posts with only botanical names, sometimes I
just leave them because I don't understand what they are talking about and
don't have time to look them all up at the moment, so, in the interest of
learning (even for the "International" ones) who don't know the common
names of the more common plants in this area, why don't the 'botanical'
people use both the common names and the botanical names so we can all
learn. After all, it shouldn't take any more time for them to research the
common name than it does for us to research the Latin name. Seems only fair.
