Re: hand pollination

Well, I'm sure that works for a lot of plants, but if you read that
incredibly good explanation of Plant Genetics for Seed Savers by Rick
Grazzini on Tom Clothier's site, you will discover that some plants have
flowers that are both male and female and some plants set pollen at
different times than the female parts are receptive to it and more info. on
the secret sex life of plants as well as F1 and F2 hybrids and why, when
you save some seed you get plants that don't look at all like what you
thought they would. I read it from start to finish and was
fascinated...plus, it has to be the only text on plant genetics I've ever
found that didn't make my eyes glaze over and my head nod. Highly
recommended for all you seed lovers out there!
