Allan,
Starting basil from cuttings is very easy. I've rooted tip cuttings in
water and in planting medium. Both ways work. Take a tip cutting with about
4 leaf nodes, remove flowers if there are any, also remove the lower 2 sets
of leaves. Now, put the prepared cutting either in a container of water
making sure no leaves are in the water; or place the cutting in a light
planting medium, keep the medium moist, mist the cuttings daily. Place the
cuttings in bright indirect light......a shaded porch works well and wait a
couple of weeks and you'll have new basil plants.
Very easy, and you get new plants sooner than with seeds.
