Re: Nepeta, Salvia, Euphorbia

Merlene-

As far as your Eupohorbia's - I have only a few and have discovered that they
are fairly easy to propagate as long as you let then calace and keep then on
the dryer side during rooting. Now for the Salvia's...which ones are you
referring to? The coccinea's...they are annual like and will not come back
if it freezes but will self sow generously. Other Salvias such as the
leucantha, guaranitica, greggii, uligiose and others will be fine propagated
now and planted in the fall.

I'm also in Zone 9 but probably a much more humid zone 9 than your wonderful
California air. I take cuttings all year long---giving them just a bit more
attention during the heat and I keep them under a mister keeping the foliage
moist during this period. I've really run out of room in the greenhouse for
anymore cuttings under glass - but I have seen a really neat Mister
attachment for the hose at Home Depot----it has the appearance of a snake
(coil) and stands upright on the coil....if you were to attach this to a
timer and find a small place to keep your cuttings - this would work great.

Let me know the salvias you have----they are one of my favorites. :o)

Good luck
