Rainier Cherries

Kris -- as Don mentioned, the cherries probably won't come true from seed.
Another wonderful source of fruit trees that is closer to home (I think) is
Bay Laurel Nursery in the Atascadero area. I've ordered nearly a dozen
trees bare root from them and not only do they arrive in terrific
condition, my trees are fruiting like crazy and this is only their second
year! I don't know if they have Rainier cherries, but I would expect they
do.

You can reach them at 800.847.6473

PS The other thing you can do is to find someone who grows ranier
cherries, get some wood during dormant season, and graft them onto a
related tree in the Prunus genus (that means apricot, plum, peach,
nectarine) -- you'd have to do a small bit of research to find out which
Prunus are compatible as there are some combinations that don't do well.
We have done quite a bit of grafting in our yard onto old
no-longer-productive trees or trees who's fruit wasnt particularly good and
it's been a great success and a fun process. Contact me if you'd like more
info.
