Hi! I`m another Elaine, I`v been listening in for some time now. You
all are a kick with the bags!
Merlene----about your angle trumpet`s, I have a gold and a pink just as
you said you have. I started them from plants that were in other peoples
yard. You cut off the new green branchs(after they are brown they don`t
root as well),apply some b1 and stick in potting soil, keep moist and
shaded, the old leaf`s will drop off, you will know it has rooted when
new green starts to show. They will be a bush if you don`t cut the
suckers off the main stem to make a trunk. I have made mine into trees,
they are about ten feet high(I have them each in twenty gal. buckets), I
water every other day, unless it rains, because the tend to wilt easily
in or out of planters. I feed them twice a year, and they bloom all year
round in sunny Northern Calif., they just always keep putting out
suckers on the trunk, so if you don`t want them to bush just keep
cutting off new growth( I have supplyed all my friends with one each,
and I take them to the flea market and farmers market and sell them
after they are rooted. Every one loves them, and always are asking for
more! I am looking for a white one to pinchaa branch from, but no luck
finding one as yet. Hope this helps!
I had some lovely Amaryllis bulbs this spring, they bloomed thier hearts
out, five blooms on one and six on the other. My question is can I plant
the seed that they dropped? I have never had any drop seed before, these
did, how or when should I plant them? Have any of you raised bulbs from
Amaryllis seed, what were your results, how did you do it? Thanks!
Elaine
