re- Japanese red maples seeds

I had some Acer ginnalla germinate by leaving them outdoors over winter.
They surprised me as many times they were just a block of ice, but now
there are several a few centimetres high with several sets of leaves.
I think that Deno suggests fresh seed is better, in fact I collected some
one time and they germinated within a month.
My attempts at A tataricum? were not so successful. Although some
germinated, I forgot to water and they perished.
A palmatum never did germinate for me.

I hope you have success as they are truly beautiful specimens. There is an
aged palmatum near here that is remarkable. There are also some beauties at
the Arboretum in Ottawa, Canada's capital.
