Re: Alstroemeria seed collecting

Karen,

I sowed Alstroemeria "Dr Slater's hybrids" last year. The seeds came from
Thompson and Morgan. I covered the seeds slightly with grit, then followed
the instructions on the seed-pack. They were kept at 21C for 3 weeks, then
in the fridge at 5C for 3 weeks and then again at 21C for 3 weeks, after
which they germinated. I thought it best to take them in for the winter, but
left one outside to see what would happen. And to my surprise it has
survived our long winter. Two of the plants are now up with buds and I'm
waiting for them to unfold.

Magnar.
