Re: Sprouting Rosa rugosa seeds

Be patient. I have had some take as long as two years to sprout - I left
the flat in an unheated greenhouse and the seed finally came up the second
year. Fresh seed, as in right out of the hip without stratifying or having
anything done to it, will often germinate better than stratified seed. I
know a rose breeder who leaves the hips on the rose until planting time,
then plants the seed directly out of the hip.
