Karen asked:
<One more question - would you sow the seed on grit, in pots, and
refrigerate ( as Spring is upon me now)?>
I give the following advice about sowing the Aruncus now because the
seed is also short lived, so you will not be able to keep it over for
next season.
What I would do, especially if you are fridge-deprived and spring is
almost here is mix the seed with barely moist vermiculite or soil-less
mix (Pro-Mix?) in a small Zip-Lock bag, mark the date and put it in your
vegie crisper. Take it out after about 8-10 weeks, spread the contents
out into a flat, or large pot, keep covered and moist until germination.
You should be able to nurse the babes along and have them in the ground
for them to establish before next winter.
Good luck,
