Hello,
How would you start Achillea seeds?
30-100 Light slow, irregular germ 60-65 Well drained Surface
Reduce soil temperature at night
I have these instructions from the internet but would like to know what you
start them in?
Individual seeds in cells or a bunch of seed scattered in a tray type
container.
Or is there a better way?
many thanks, mum
You do not say which type you have but almost all respond the same:
Achillea tomentosa 'Aurea' - Surface sow, Germination in 7-15 days at F 70.
Best to start them in a pot or flat and after they reach some size move to
the ground or their own pots.
One of the easiest perennials to grow from seed. Will bloom the first year
from an early sowing.
I sow into a seed medium and after 3 weeks start very week fert application
with the water. Plants grow fast.
Plant out into areas with full sun and in soil that is well draining and not
overly rich.
They do very well in sandy loam.
