Ellen, I've never tried lupins but grow a lot of delphs. They germinate
very quickly and easily with a layer of grit (chicken grit from a grain
store) placed over top of the seeds, covering them completely. Same goes
for Larkspur, the annual Delphinium. Simply grit in pots, and place in a
warm, sunny location and they usually will show good germination in about a
week.
