I have just germinated hundreds of cyclamen seed that I got from the
Cyclamen Society in England. I just joined, and had the chance to buy
some seed that hadn't sold in their usual summer seed sale. I sowed it
on Feb 4 and left the pots on a kitchen counter near a window. Not much
light, though, in our cloudy winter. The temperature is 20 celsius
(about 70 F) in the daytime and lower at night. As the various species
germinated, I moved them to a cooler room with more light ( the bedroom,
which is unheated and has the door open at night). The only species
which has not yet germinated is C. repandum. The other pots that
germinated earlier are filled with leaves that already show interesting
patterns, particularly the silver-leafed forms. Some of the seed packets
had over 50 seeds, so I am going to have a cyclamen "lawn."
