Re: Pecans

Almond is budded in Mid-summer on to apricot, peach or plum seedling stock.
Apricot or peach is used for light soils and plum for heavier soils.
Walnut: varieties: Franquette, Mayette, Freshford Gem, and several lesser
known varieties.
Rootstocks of the Black Walnut (Juglans regie) and the Californian Black
Walnut (J.hindsee) are raised from seed and should have the main tap root
severed at an early stage to encourage a fibrous root system. All
varieties can either be grafted in winter under glass or budded in late
summer in the open using a patch bud.
The above from Modern plant Propagation by Allan Gardiner.
Nothing on Pecans
I'll see what I can find at the office next I have the MG duty.
