Dear Friends
There are countless species with extremely limited seed viability. Salix,
for example.
In many cases seed longevity may be extended by refrigeration - as
a rule storing seed at 2-5 % moisture at 1.5 - 4 degrees centigrade
should extend their life dramatically. Store seed in sealed glass or
metal containers - this works best if containers filled to about 90 %
their capacity with seed. I'll post a few article references to the list
tomorrow.
I, myself, have germinated Gerbera seed after 18 months of storage
Got to be off.
