try germinating them in the house- put them in a glass jar, rinse with
wter and leave a dribble in the bottom of the jar. rinse a couple of
times a dya, and when the peas have sprouted, plant them. Often peas
rot instead of sprouting if it is a cold damp spring. Once sprouted
they don't rot.
